Our History
The Rotary Club of Georgetown, founded in 1938, has connected people across Georgetown and done amazing service for the community.

Our club's first President was Ralph Ford, who led 25 charter members to the development of our club and created a pathway to success that has lasted nearly 90 years.  Our first female president was Betty Roberts in 2007.

The Rotary Club of Georgetown sponsored the Andrews Rotary Club in 1967, Pawleys Island Rotary Club in 1977, the Georgetown Breakfast Club in 1986, and the Interact Club at Georgetown High School.

Our history spans nearly 90 years, and we are very much a part of our community.  On a more global scale, Rotary International has been praised in the medical community and around the world for its efforts in eradicating Polio. The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. The CART fund is a non-profit grassroots organization that provides “seed” money for cutting edge, high impact research grants to help find a treatment or cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. Rotarians have donated over $13 million since 1999 to this fund.
