Meet our Members | Meet the District 6910 Rotarian of the Year

In the final installment of this calendar year's Meet our Members Series, we are honored to introduce you to the 2023 District 6910 Rotarian of the Year.  The award recipient is none other than the woman who is behind the curtain on so many of the communication pieces that you receive each month.  Take a moment to learn a bit more about our District Public Image Chair Amanda Groover.

Amanda Groover is a woman filled to the brim with energy. With a quick smile, she says she has a “very unhealthy obsession” with her Peloton bike and reading. In fact, she has completed more than 300 rides on her bike this year and is on track to read 100+ books by the end of 2023. Sometimes she does both at the same time!

This same energy level, combined with a desire to give back, led to her joining the South Hall Rotary Club in 2016. She reached out to the club as she searched for a way to enlarge her professional network and serve her community.

Just seven years later, after successful stints as her club’s Public Image chair, President-elect and President, and the District’s Public Image committee chair, Groover was named the District 6910 Rotarian of the Year by District Governor Gerry Taylor. With this award, Taylor recognized that Groover strategically streamlined communications for the District.

Responsibilities of the job included overseeing the development and publication of the monthly district-wide newsletter and managing the district social media accounts. In addition, Groover regularly shared information with club public image directors leading to a record number of clubs earning Zone 33 and 34 Public Image Citations.

District Governor Gerry Taylor said, “Amanda has had a great impact on the South Hall Rotary Club and on the entire District with her leadership and devotion to excellence.”

Next year, Groover will expand her leadership by serving on the zone public image committee.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in marketing from the University of Arizona, Groover is well qualified to lead Rotary’s public image area.

She currently works as the Business Development Manager for Croft and Associates, an award-winning architectural and engineering firm based in Lawrenceville. Her work motto aptly applies to her Rotary work – “Efficiency is the result of clearing out what drains us of time and energy.”

Born and raised in Habersham County, Groover is married to Matt and she helps to parent Matt’s children, Brittany and Tyler. Hershey and Kia, their two dogs, round out their Flowery Branch household.

In addition to Rotary, Groover serves on the University of North Georgia alumni board, on the board of Hall County’s Friends of Recovery, and as part of several architectural and construction-related organizations. She was recognized in 2019 as one of Georgia Trend’s 40 under 40 award winners and is a Leadership Hall Class of 2020 graduate.

Thank you, Amanda, for doing an awesome job keeping the lines of communication open in District 6910 and beyond. Well done!
