SHELTERBOX & ROTARY RESPOND TO INDONESIAN EARTHQUAKE, TSUNAMI

By  Peggy Carlaw

Sulawesi, Indonesia has been devastated.

On Friday, September 28th, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami with 10 foot-high waves devastated the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Over 12,000 people have died and more than 50,000 have been made homeless due to this disastrous event. We also know that water is in short supply and that the infrastructure has been badly damaged.

ShelterBox already has a Response Team in Lombock, Indonesia following the August 6.9 magnitude earthquake which left 20,000 people homeless. Our team has been in-country for the last month helping families recover from that event. We are now sending a second Response Team to Indonesia to understand how we might be able to help Sulawesi families who have lost everything.

VISIT ROTARY INTERNATIONAL MARCH 2019

By  Tim Mobley
Calling all District 5110 Rotarians, want to visit Rotary International headquarters?

A trip is being planned for Evanston, Illinois to visit Rotary International. The focus of the trip will be on the Rotary Foundation, but will also include a tour of the headquarters of Rotary International.

If you are interested in going, the cost will be two nights lodging ($250 to $300) and round trip airfare ($300 to $350), plus food. The plan is to fly to Chicago on March 11, 2019, visit RI headquarters on March 12th, and fly home on March 13th.

Past District Governor Tim Mobley would like to plan this trip through a travel agent to coordinate arrival in Chicago and arrange for a group transport to Evanston, to save money. The cut off date will be October 20th, so we can get the trip planned and the best rates.
There us a maximum of 15 people for this trip.

If interested please contact Tim Mobley at tkmobley1415@gmail.com.
