Up Next: Arif Humayun, Circle of Peace

Arif Humayun will be our special guest on August 3, delivering what promises to be an interesting program about the Circle of Peace.

Humayun will describe the Circle of Peace, which will lead in to a discussion about the causes of radicalism among Muslims.

Humayun is an American citizen, practicing Muslim, and avid writer. A specialist in comparative religion, Humayun is dedicated to understanding what causes radicalization and in advancing human rights.

Born in Pakistan, Arif came to the United States in 1980 to pursue post graduate studies in engineering at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He lived in Australia from 1989-1992, where he developed his interest in comparative religion.

Dan Sockle will introduce Humayun at our meeting.

Board approves Harris' membership

Jessie Harris will be inducted as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Three Creeks during our August 3 meeting. The club's board of directors, in accordance with our bylaws, unanimously approved Harris' membership at the board meeting on July 20.

In other club business, the board ratified Chris Workman as the club's new Public Relations Director. Chris replaces Lisa Bayautet in that position after her resignation from the club due to health issues. Chris's appointment takes effect immediately.

The board also voted to authorize Treasurer Kelley Campbell to open a Square account so that the club will have the ability to accept credit cards for payment of dues, and for event entry fees, etc.

Finally, the board approved the year end financials, which were presented by Kelley during the meeting. The club ended the year with a surplus, mostly because of generous donations from other clubs and from club members.
