2014 Mural Welcomes Visitors to Music City Maryland

Catonsville now welcomes visitors to Music City Maryland with a full length mural on the east wall of 402 Frederick Road. The work was completed by artist Edward Williams and teens from the Kaleidoscope Arts Camp held between late June and mid-July 2014. All equipment and supplies were funded by the Rotary Club of Catonsville-Sunrise Charitable Foundation, Inc. and Rotary District 7620. Many thanks to building owner, Jim Mohler, for permission to paint this wall.

About the Mural

About the Mural In 2012, the Catonsville Rotary Club was the lead sponsor on this mural which was created on a blank wall approximately 10 ft. high and over 100 ft. long. The wall of the building housing the M&T Bank Branch and facing Bloomsbury Ave. had been blank, but thousands of cars passed it and sat waiting for traffic signals to change every day. Community organizer Meg Tipper approached our club and asked us to be lead sponsor. Catonsville High School art students were recruited to assist with the painting, and a number of generous Catonsville businesses donated additional funds for the project. The mural portrays Catonsvilles past, present, and future, all from the same vantage point on the corner where the mural is located.
