Welcome to the Rotary club of Mt. Airy

Thank you for visiting our website! The Rotary Club of Mount Airy, Maryland and its members are among the 1.2 million men and women who strive to make their communities better by living the slogan “Service Above Self." We recently celebrated our 35th year in existence and have impacted many lives both personally and professionally over that time.

Rotary International was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris of Chicago. It started as a networking group and over time evolved in many ways to provide outreach to local, national, and international communities. Each Club is unique and brings together individuals of various backgrounds to help make their communities better and to have fun while doing that.

Rotary International causes include 1) fighting disease, 2), supporting education, 3) disaster response, 4) growing local economies, 5) promoting peace, 6) providing clean water, and 7) saving mothers and children. Individual clubs can also select other causes that are important to them as well.

For this year, the Mount Airy Club has some very big plans and we would like to talk to you about those plans and see if you would like to become part of them. Our biggest event will be the 3rd annual Mount Airy Duck Race on September 18th at 2:00 PM at the Fireman’s Activity facility.   We have teamed up with the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company to raise funds for them and for Rotary to support our local, national, and international efforts. Our education plans, include providing all third graders in Mount Airy with a dictionary / almanac, implementing a new program called Pay It Backwards, and to continue with our scholarship program. Our Environment team is busy working with the Mount Airy Community Garden, the Let's Talk Trash program, and our annual effort with the Carroll County Adopt-A-Road program. In addition, we have led an effort to support clean water and help build and expand a library in India.

As the new President, I welcome you to email me to discuss more about Rotary, our Club, things we are working on, and how we can work towards helping you with something you are passionate about to make our community a better place.

Yours in Rotary,

Jayde Kelly
