Dr. Toby Malichi is Our Speaker April 19th

Dr. Toby Malichi, known as “The Global Godfather,” is the Founding Executive Chairman and Global Head of Development, Investment & Diplomacy at Malichi Group Worldwide, LLC, operating in 70+ countries for over 42 years. Our multilateral deal-making impacts and solution-oriented style have enabled us to navigate complexities and unlock trillions of dollars in trade.

Dr. Malichi now holds three honorary doctorate degrees and has been awarded two Sagamore of the Wabash awards. Dr. Malichi is the 2023 Recipient of the Champions of Diversity Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Award, and has received the International Peace Medallion from St. Paul Christian University. He is a member of the Hall of Fame at IU Indianapolis Basketball and is recognized as a Who's Who Worldwide Global Business Leader. Dr. Malichi has earned the coveted General Motors Corporation - Corporate Leadership Ring.

Dr. Malichi is highly sought-after as a thought leader in advancing trade and investment for emerging market economies. He has been honored at The White House and is currently serving his 7th consecutive White House Administration in board leadership and trade advisor; the longest serving Black in that federal appointment. Dr. Malichi is internationally-recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (former board member), advocating for international trade.

He has engaged with Heads of State, foreign business and government leaders worldwide. His unique ability to secure a place at the table with global leaders and influencers is unparalleled. In October 1997, Dr. Malichi was a VIP guest of Tung Chee Hwa, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), People's Republic of China, at the Chinese Handover Ceremony.

Dr. Malichi is a founding life member and head of the governance executive committee for the African Council on Foreign Relations, Washington, DC, and is a Senior Fellow at the Sagamore Institute. He is a board advisor at the Center for International Business Education Research, (CIBER), IU Global.

In addition to his business achievements, Dr. Malichi is an ordained Auxiliary Chaplain for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department (Indianapolis) and a Marketplace Minister for Transform the World Global Ministries headquartered in Singapore.

Dr. Malichi holds a degree with honors from Vincennes University. He graduated with distinction from the General Motors Corporation, School of Management and Marketing. Dr. Malichi is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. His famous catchphrase is: Have a Successful Day and Think Globally!
 

Second Annual Rotary Club of Carmel Success Stories Program

Donna Schaibley and Jeff Worrell have been selected as speakers for the Rotary Club of Carmel Success Stories program Friday, April 26th, at Woodland Country Club.

A special committee was asked to choose two members of the club whose accomplishments in their work, in the community, and in Rotary reflect the best of what Rotary represents. Potential speakers were selected from a pool of individuals who have been members of the Rotary Club of Carmel for at least five years.

Donna Schaibley, has served the people of District 24 as their State Representative since 2014. She currently is vice chairman of the Public Health Committee, and is a member of the Insurance Committee, the Statutory Committee on Ethics, the All Payer Claims Database Board, the Health Care Cost Oversight Task Force and the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services.


Donna was born and raised in Indiana. She graduated from Purdue University with a B.A in education and political science. She is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Carmel Rotary. Donna and her husband John have two children and three grandchildren and have lived in Carmel for 32 years.

Jeff Worrell is the retired founder of Advantage Medical, an At-Large Carmel City Council Representative, an Emcee and the founder Good Day Carmel. His roles include: 1994 and 2004 President of the Carmel Chamber of Commerce (now OneZone), St. Vincent - Carmel Hospital Board, Carmel Christkindlmarkt Board, CarmelFest Board, Rotary Club of Carmel, Good Day Carmel, and directing the Carmel Fireworks show each Fourth of July. He also previously served as the Carmel City Council President.
Jeff and his wife Shari have lived in Carmel for 32 years and they have two adult children, Brad and Amy. Shari and Jeff enjoy the Arts, traveling, running, snow skiing, and volunteering at their church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Both Donna and Jeff will cover five items during their presentations:
  • Introductory remarks about themselves, family, vocations and other activities and interests.
  • Significant events and activities that shaped who they are.
  • People who have been major influences in their lives (why and how).
  • Role Rotary played in their lives.
  • Parting words of advice or words to live by.

Mayor Sue Finkam began her tenure as Mayor of Carmel in January of 2024. She has been an executive business leader with a diverse professional background. This included marketing, healthcare operations, and human resources leadership. She has expertise in providing solutions to mission-based organizations. She was elected to represent Carmel as a city councilor in 2012. As city councilor, she has served as president(2021,2017), vice president(2016,2020), finance chair, and redistricting coordinator. She is a co-founder of LetsTalkCarmel.com, a City of Carmel community transparency portal. She serves as a member of the Hamilton County Solid Waste Board. She also served as vice-chair for the Hamilton County Economic Development Corporation and co-founded Carmel Porchfest, a music festival held on the front porches north of Main Street. She has a B.S. degree in Sports Medicine at Central Michigan and a Masters Degree in Management at  Indiana Wesleyan University. She has resided in Carmel for nearly 20 years with her husband Joe and her son Drew, who graduates from IU this year.

Dan Gilot is Our May 3rd Speaker

Indianapolis prepares to host 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials Discussion will center around the background of the event, why hosting large-scale sporting events is beneficial to our community and how people can get involved with the event.
 
Dan Gliot joined the Indiana Sports Corp team in September of 2023 as Senior Director of Marketing & Communications. In this role, Gliot is responsible for developing, overseeing, and executing all Indiana Sports Corp communication strategies. Gliot also serves as Indiana Sports Corp’s primary spokesperson and media contact.
 
Prior to his time at Indiana Sports Corp, Gliot led a team at the Horizon League for five years as Assistant Commissioner of Messaging and Branding. In this role, he managed all aspects of the organization's branding, including strategic communications, media relations, and marketing efforts. Gliot oversaw substantial growth to the Horizon League website and social media channels.
