Gift of Literacy

The Rotary Club of Redmond Oregon, District 5110, is once again, proud to sponsor the gift of literacy. All Redmond first grade teachers were given a set of books to read to their students. Each student selected a book as their favorite. We provided each first grade student with their chosen book, personalized inside complete with a backpack. Once we receive the books, our Rotarians got to work labeling the books and assembling backpacks. Anticipation builds until that magic moment when the students get to open their backpacks to find their very own personalized hardcover books! This program is made possible due to the generous donations of SELCO COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION and HAYDEN HOMES, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Redmond, the Redmond School District and the Deschutes Public Library.
