The Rotary Club of New Haven sponsors candidates for four (4) types of scholarships:

     

     1.  The Rotary Club of New Haven Local Scholarships ($1500.00)

           Awarded to local seniors who are residents of New Haven or are graduating from public or private high schools located in New Haven, Connecticut.  Deadline is May 1, 2015.

     2.The Rotary International Foundation Global Grant Scholarship ($30,000.00).

     3.  The Rotary International District 7980 (Southern CT) Service Above Self Scholarships ($10,000.00).

     4.  The Rotary International Peace Fellowships ($60,000.00)

   1.  Rotary Club of New Haven Scholarships ($1,500)

Awarded to local seniors who are residents of New Haven or are graduating from public or private high schools located in New Haven, Connecticut.  Deadline is May 1, 2015.


   2.  The Rotary International Foundation Global Grant Scholarship ($30,000).

For graduate study or research at a foreign university in one of the following six areas of focus adopted by the Rotary International Foundation:

          -Peace and Conflict pre ention and resolution

          -Disease prevention and treatment

          -Water and sanitation

          -Maternal and child health

          -Basic education and literacy

          -Economic and community development

The deadline for applying to the New Haven Club for endorsement for the program beginning in August/September 2015 is January 10, 2015.  Rotary Club of New Haven interviews will take place beginning January 20, 2015 with District interviews to follow in February 2015.


  3.  The Rotary International District 7980 (Southern CT) Service Above Self Scholarships ($10,000)

For undergraduate (2nd, 3rd, and 4th year) or graduate study domestic or foreign university; Candidates must have superior academic credentials and significant history of service to others.  Deadline for applying to Club for Club endorsement for the 2015-16 academic year is April 1, 2015. Rotary Club of New Haven interviews will be held in April, 2015. District interviews follow in May, 2015.

 

     4.  Rotary International Peace Fellowships ($60,000)

For graduate study (15-24 months) leading to a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution programs beginning in 2016 at one of the following universities:  Duke University/UNC for non-US fellows (US); International Christian University (Japan); University of Bradford (UK); University of Queensland (Australia); and Uppsala University (Sweden).    Deadline for applying to the Rotary Club of New Haven for Club endorsement is May 1, 2015.  District Interviews will follow.


  


Criteria for the Rotary Club of New Haven Local Scholarship

    A.   Detail the student’s financial need, including copy of Parent’s Financial Aid application.

 

B.   Detail the student’s own contribution to defraying education costs through loans and employment.  

 

C.   Detail the extent of financial aid and loans awarded to the student from other sources.

 

D.   Detail the student’s scholastic record in high school.

 

E.    Detail the extent of the student’s involvement in community activities.

 

F.    Detail the student’s maturity and seriousness of purpose.

 

G.   Detail the student’s future academic and career plans.
